About us
Summary
This research and development program aims at strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish construction in both international and domestic markets by focusing on improved efficiency.
The program which has a total budget of MSEK250 started in 2009 and will be carried out in three phases during a 15-year period.
Half of the funding comes from Swedish industry and the other half from VINNOVA (The Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems).
What we do
- Developing a system that allows comparisons of performance and price in a time perspective.
- Identifying priority issues and research areas.
- Developing sustainable and stable models of collaboration between the construction industry and academia, in cooperation with Sveriges Bygguniversitet (The Swedish University of Building Engineering Sciences).
- Creating a technology platform and conditions for coordinating research and development activities between the Swedish construction industry, the researchers and the relevant public authorities.
Why we do it
The total value for society of all our products, including their use (roads and railways, water supply and sewerage systems, industrial facilities, and efficiency in all our offices, homes, etc.) is much greater than the sector product in a narrow sense.
Much of construction is public. The built environment contributes to society’s environmental impact and therefore an increased environmental efficiency will be of decisive importance for the competitive ability of the construction industry.
These three factors imply that the development of the construction industry is of vital importance for society, for all businesses in Sweden and for us as individual citizens.
